Kitchener Fire Station #7
February 2008
Kitchener, Ontario
Owner: City of Kitchener
Consultant: Kasian Architects

This fire station is a new 7,000 square foot building consisting of structural steel and load bearing masonry construction with sloped steel and flat modified bitumen roof areas. This building included a two truck apparatus bay, kitchen, sleeping quarters, office areas, gym, and maintenance areas. It also included site works with new site services, concrete and asphalt paving, and landscaping. A backup generator was also installed in a separate building on site as well.
The project was not registered in the LEED program but through construction implemented several LEED inspired components such as construction waste management, indoor air quality during construction & occupancy, low emitting materials, FSC certified lumber, and reduced heat island effect.
